right: primark
Not quite the perfect pun I was hoping for as the items are actually striped and not spotted, but alas, it still works. If you haven't noticed yet, I am in fact wearing two different dresses in this post. The one on the left I tried on last week and then later on bought it after the TOWIB event with the help of Zoe and Lily and their enabling me.
Popping through Primark on my lunch break at work I spotted the number in the picture on the right and promptly handed over the cash for it, so I could compare the two at home. I've seen this style dress all over eBay too and was going to buy one of those, but I think two is enough for now!
The price difference is an eye-watering (almost) £19, the Primark one £10 and £29 for the Topshop version. That would make the decision simple for a normal person, but I still can't decide which one I like best. My brain says keep the Primark one because it's cheaper and I probably won't wear it too many times, yet my heart says the Topshop one is nicer, softer and more flattering.
I'm afraid I can't pick and need you to decide for me. Which one do you prefer?
PS. Please feel free to ignore the crazy food baby going on, and the fact that my waist has pretty much disappeared. Operation 'regain-18-year-old-body-before-21st-birthday' starts now!
PPS. Probably going to get this one instead now, what do you think?

I think I actually prefer the Primark one! I like the length of the sleeves and I think the colours are slightly nicer!
ReplyDeleteIf it were me I'd choose the cheapest anyway! xx
Oh wowser, this is uncanny! I do prefer the sleeve length of the primark version, but do love the neck on the topshop one!! The price is a deal breaker though, return the topshop one for sure!! xx
ReplyDeleteOh, my, gosh!! These are so near exactly the same it's uncanny.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I prefer the topshop one because the print is a lot more refined and brighter, think what you could do with that extra £19!!! Another dress, maybe? :)
You look stunning in both dresses! I'd keep the Primark on because I can't tell much difference between the two. I haven't seen the Topshop one but I saw the Primark one today and the first thing I thought was that it's actually really soft for a Primark dress! It's a great print, I nearly bought it but I didn't think I could pull it off x
ReplyDeleteWow they are super similar! If I had to choose, I'd say the one on the left is marginally softer but... blimey they are are practically identical!! x x
ReplyDeletewow, i didn't even notice! i vote primark, you can hardly tell. and for nineteen pounds less!
ReplyDeleteyou look lovely, by the way x

I would normally go for the cheaper one, but I know what you mean. At Topshop you pay more but the quality is better too! I like the Topshop dress the most because it looks a little darker and I like the long sleeves when the dress is as short as it is, so I say keep that one :)

see i actually think the primark one flatters you more than the topshop one! with the 3/4 sleeves!
ReplyDeleteprimark one!
ReplyDeleteno doubt about it I'd say keep the Primark one ! i mean they both look lovely but i think the price is the winning fact for me.. that is me i am very very stingy hahah! i like the neckline on the topshop one though
ReplyDeletexx
£19 is a lot, I do prefer the topshop neckline, and the full lenght sleeves. With a jacket and a snood or scarf for winter you wouldn't even see these differences though, so primark, then you can get something else to go with the dress with the money you save x
ReplyDeleteI actually prefer the Primark one, I like the sleeve length and neckline way better!
ReplyDeletexo
I did not notice the difference at first! I think keep the Primark one, I think the print on the topshop one is slightly nicer but the difference is negligible and i actually prefer the sleeve length on the primark one. And you'll save loads of money! x
ReplyDeletei like the topshop one, it's more fitting to your body
ReplyDeleteprimark fo' sho'! genuinely didnt notice the difference.

xx
I do prefer the topshop one because I like the colours better and the length of the sleeves but yes, £19 is a lot so keep the primark one! xo

I prefer the Primark one. I can't believe how alike they are!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely the primark one! The sleeves length is perfect, but oh god I didn't even notice a difference! I'd save that £19 :) xx
ReplyDeleteYou look stunning but even though I undestand why you love top shop one I think you should keep one from Primark. xxxxx
ReplyDeletei prefer the left! very subtle differences though.
ReplyDeleteBuy Primark! You can then INVEST money into a new dress or top! it's like 2 for 1! ;) X

The Primark one is much more flattering, which is surprising!
ReplyDeleteI think I actually prefer the Primark one, especially after knowing the price difference! Both look fab on though xx
ReplyDeleteAt first i prefered the topshop, but the sleeve length on the primark one is nicer. It doesnt seem like a dress that would get much wear and they're both very, very similar so i'd go for the cheaper one!

I prefer the Topshop one. The print is much brighter. But since they're so similar, I would definitely go for the cheaper Primark one!

I prefer the topshop one.. I think it's more figure hugging and gives you a better shape... but there is hardly any difference so if you need the money.. keep the Primark (coz your figure still looks amazing in that one obv :) )

haha how many do you need?! its a gorgeous dress though! definitely prefer the print of the topshop one, it seems like it'd be a lot more flattering :)
ReplyDeleteI can't get over how similar they are! I think I prefer the sleeves on the primark one though, as well as the price obvs xx
ReplyDeleteHow funny! I prefer the one on the right though.

Haha that's incredible! Gotta love Primark x
ReplyDeleteThis is really hard. I love the sleeves and top of the Primark, but the torso/body of the Topshop. If you weren't so bothered by the price, keep the Topshop. If you are, Primark is the way to go. But also think, that when you loose the food baby you claim to have, that Primark dress will look like the Topshop dress, plus you would have saved L19! I hope this helps!
ReplyDeletehard to choose! but for the price the primark one is a star buy! even though i work for topshop,i must say some stuff can be so overpriced!!
ReplyDeleteWithout even knowing which was which I prefer the Primark one! They're both equally flattering but I like the base colour of the primark one best :) Thats insane though that they're both basically THE SAME DRESS! Naughty naughty Topshop... x
ReplyDeleteOh wow they look almost identical but I definitely prefer the longer sleeves of the TS one!
ReplyDeleteWhoa!! I didnt even notice that they were diff!

I love these dresses!!! I prefer the Topshop one, it's much more flattering on your figure and the colour/material looks nicer. Boohoo and Missguided actually do these dresses now, I bought the Boohoo one yesterday since it was only £12 and it has the long sleeves that I like :) It's called the Sarah Tiger Bodycon Dress if you want to have a quick look.

I think I slightly prefer the Primark one y'know, the sleeve length is much nicer (: Can't believe how similar they are! xx
ReplyDeleteThat's ridiculus! I wonder how Primark always manages! Haha. I would keep the Primark one still cause you can't go wrong with ten quid and as you said, you probably won't wear it much anyways. Oh and the difference is hardly there.

I actually prefer the Primark version, I like the sleeve length and think it looks lovely on you! xxx
ReplyDeleteI like the neckline and coloring on the Topshop one, but i prefer the sleeves of the primark one! Either one would be a good choice really, they both have their pros. Sorry if that didn't help much, lol! :))
ReplyDeleteEmma, you've got to go for the Primark one! Sure the Topshop one is nicer quality, but I think this is one of those dresses that you won't wear often, like you said. Splurge on other things at Topshop.
ReplyDeleteM.
The Topshop one is more presentable than the Primark. You payed for quality, why not keep it? :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how similar they are! But when it comes down to it the Topshop one is likely to last a bit longer and stay in shape after it has been washed. But for £10 you could afford to buy almost 3 for the same price as the Topshop one!
ReplyDeleteTry buying the ebay one and see how that compares too!
Which either one you decide they both look lovely and flatter your figure!
xoxo
I kid of prefer longer sleeves, but apart from that there is NO difference... but i think it's all about how it feels. I'd go for the one that feels more comfortable and better quality. If the prim ark one is too thin, you'll freeze! xx
ReplyDeleteI prefer the darker tones of the Topshop one, it's a bit warmer if that makes sense? But the eBay jobby is a dead ringer, so go for that bargain!
ReplyDeletePenny x
I was going to say the TS one as I prefer the longer sleeves but then say the eBay one and now think that one! x
ReplyDeleteThere are actually very, very minor differences. And if you hadn't pointed out that these are in fact two different dresses, I don't think I would've noticed ! Go for the Primark one, what would you rather have, another 29 quid in your bank again or 10 quid back in your bank ?
ReplyDeleteHands down the Primark one. Actually a lot more flattering x
ReplyDeleteI thought it was the same dress they look so similar. I think I prefer the Topshop one but the fact that they look so similar I'd probably save my money and go for the Primark one! x
ReplyDeleteLove them both, cant believe how similar they are!
ReplyDeleteYou might want to check this one out on ebay, its the topshop one for much cheaper! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TOPSHOP-ANIMAL-PRINT-BODYCON-DRESS-PETITE-UK-4-6-8-10-12-14-16-/330619239460?pt=UK_Women_s_Dresses&var=&hash=item7dbd2c412c#ht_1484wt_1037

I actually think the Primark one is a bit more flattering on you ! And you won't wear it too often so go for the cheaper one and splurge those extra 19 pounds on something else !! x
ReplyDeleteI actually think the Primark one is a bit more flattering on you ! And you won't wear it too often so go for the cheaper one and splurge those extra 19 pounds on something else !! x
ReplyDeleteWow, I really didn't notice at first! But on closer inspection I think the Topshop one is more flattering. I really like the neckline on it and as you said, Topshop just feels nice and is better quality xx
ReplyDeletekathykinsxo.blogspot.com
I originally looked at this post on my phone which meant I wasn't able to see which one was which and turns out i thought the primark one was going to be the topshop one! I much prefer the shorter sleeves and pattern on the primark one. (so much so I went and bought it so thank you) :) xx
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI saw your blog this morning and then received an email from Boo Hoo.
I saw this! http://www.boohoo.com/clothing/new-in/icat/newin/new-in/sarah-tiger-bodycon-dress/invt/azz70718
I think I prefer the Topshop one as it looks more evening/winter style but the price of the Primark one would make me take the Topshop one back. The BooHoo one looks a good compromise with the longer sleaves, darker print and nicer neckline.
They both look great on you though!
oh my god, i cant believe this, and the price difference is huuuuge! primark have had so many similar to topshop items recently for so much cheaper and i almost prefer the primark one for the 3/4 length sleeves. you look lovely in this dress!
