a day in a (sequin) dress

dress: dorothy perkins*

A couple of weeks ago I was contacted by Voucher Codes asking if I'd want to take part in the Most Wanted 'A Day in a Dress' Challenge. My store to pick from was Dorothy Perkins, and I quickly opted for this amazing black number. Originally I was going to get the champagne one but after seeing it in store I'm glad I didn't!

The idea of the challenge was to wear the dress on a typical day, doing normal everyday stuff rather than be conscious of the dress and put oneself in 'party mode'. This meant the garment would be properly tested - I don't know about you but I am definitely more self-aware when I'm out celebrating! Sadly though, I didn't get to wear this dress outside the house as unfortunately it's too big! I will have to order another online and swap it (have been to at least 4 stores to exchange over the weekend and nowhere has a size 8.. frustrating is not the word), as I do really like it. For the purpose of these photos I've tucked quite a bit of material under itself, worn normally it almost reaches my knees..

To be honest I don't think this is the ideal party dress for me as a few sequins dropped by simply shaking the item, as well as a little pile of black specks on my bedroom floor from where I took the photos of it. Saying that though, I do think it's really lovely, and honestly probably would have bought it myself as it's not too expensive (just under £30!). I guess any sequin dress would have the same problems so I can't judge too much. Luckily it isn't scratchy either. Can't wait to get my proper size and wear it out, silly me forgetting the sizing is always massive for me in there though!

Despite the little hiccup in sizing and stock availability, I am very pleased with this dress and extremely happy to have taken part in this challenge! Voucher codes display all current offers for the site, so it's worth checking out before you make an order online. I found it really easy to navigate the site too which is always good. Happy bargain hunting!

What's your opinion on this dress? Do you love it? Do you hate it? Michelle did a post for the challenge too! (:

  7. Ugh it's so annoying when your size is sold out! It happens to me all the time, I can guarantee if I want something, they probably don't have my size  sigh*. The dress does look like it'd be lovely on you, I wouldn't be so sure of an all sequin dress but it does actually look really stylish and not tacky (which I thought it might!). Lovely :) xx nakedfaun.blogspot.com

  9. It suits your figure, shame it doesn't fit! I HATE getting excited about a new item of clothing, only to find it needs to be returned after purchasing.

You can barely tell that the dress isn't the right size, you made it look like it fit pretty well. I'd totally buy this dress if the sequins didn't fall off just from shaking it.
