chanel illusion d'ombre émerveillé

chanel illusion d'ombre in 82 émerveillé: debenhams (£22.50)

Wanted to buy this after the Debenhams press day with the voucher I received, not sure why I didn't. I think it's because I'm not really all that fussed with eyeshadows in general, I'm lazy and use the same shades all the time. That being said the amount of good things I've read (Anna, Lily and Kelly have posted about this too) persuaded me. Was going to wait till my bonus points came through onto my beauty club card and save £10 but the sales assistant told me she only had two of these left and wouldn't be getting more (a sales tactic I'm sure!). So here we are!

I absolutely love the colour of this, it's my perfect shimmery nude colour. Definitely a more luxe version of the kind of look I'd been going for with my MUA Heaven and Earth palette. It has a really lovely texture, it's really spongy but soft! Get yourself down to your local Chanel counter to see what I mean. The packaging is just dreamy too, as with all Chanel products! Much nicer to have in my makeup bag than a palette which could spill powder everywhere!

Going against what I've just said about having it in your makeup bag, you really don't need to have it in there to be honest as the product is just so long wearing! I've only worn it once so far, for New Year's eve celebrations, which I think is a good test for any product. I went for a meal in a hot restaurant and then drank an awful lot of Pimm's, which in theory should make anything shift but when I checked in the toilets my eyes looked perfect! This has never happened before so I am over the moon with it! Not even a single crease. Insane.

I prefer to use my finger rather than the adorable little brush that came with it, because I find the colour comes out better. I'd have included swatches on my actual eyes but I've been makeup free the whole of this year (sounds drastic, it's only the 3rd)! Watch this space though, it's the only eye shadow I'll want to use for a while!

I'll also be posting what I did buy with my Debenhams press voucher soon, think three initials and gold packaging!

  7. I've read a lot about this shade, but somehow, I still really want the burgundy one. Don't know why , really. The red undertones are oh so unflattering, and I already have a billion of similar shades in my collection. I still really want it though! Argh!

  8. Three initials and gold packaging, eh? I'm guessing something from YSL? :)
And oh gosh, I absolutely LOVE Chanel make-up but have never owned an item, myself. I plan on eventually tossing all of my make-up for this fall and buying all new stuff, so maybe then I'll have some Chanel stuff.
I always love reading your posts!
By the way, after reading your bit about the Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish, I got my hands on one (the holiday edition) as well, and I'm absolutely over the moon with it! Thank you so much for blogging about it.
    Best wishes! xx

  11. I have this- I think it hasn't been a very popular shade but I dont see why. I also gave one of these away before Christmas and the winner LOVED it. There shades are permanent and chanel will be adding more to the range. They are fab x
