The Stroke of Light eye brightener is a highlighter type product designed for reducing the look of dark circles and unsightly shadows around and underneath the eye area. I'm usually very skeptical about this kind of product since I need lots of coverage to diffuse the darkness as well as highlighting properties but too much can mean a cakey finish. It also claims to improve the general appearance of the eye area over time but I see this as more of a cosmetic product; I'm so pleased with it for this reason so that's what my review is going to be based on.
On first impressions from the product claims I thought this would be like YSL Touche Éclat but it seems to work better for me. It's very creamy but at the same time a nice medium coverage without being too much and works well as a corrector and brightener in one. I really like the spongy applicator to dab on a couple of blobs underneath each eye and buff in with the Real Techniques Contour Brush. I do wear concealer as well over the top but it's actually so effective for me that I could go without it on a normal day. I didn't want to blog about this straight away but I'm honestly so impressed! I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and it's slotted itself comfortably into my daily makeup routine and is already a firm favourite. I'll be looking to try the next shade down in the range just to see if I can use it on other problem areas or even together with this one. I love love love it and would definitely recommend to anyone suffering from dark circles or general dullness around the eyes. It seems pricey but it is slightly cheaper than the YSL version; and it provides better coverage as well as correcting and highlighting. Huge thumbs up!

Sounds really interesting, may have to give it a go. Thanks! :)

I've been looking for something to sort out my eye bags! I'm with you, I often find the coverage lack lustre on similar products and find myself doing touch ups at lunch time.

This looks great, you should try out the get started kit, it has the powder foundation, mineral veil, bronzer, prime time and some really soft brushes! All the makeup are minis but the brushes are full size! x
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like bliss as someone was has really bad eye circles! Really intrigued, although you can't beat YSL packaging! xx
ReplyDeleteI'd be interested to try this...I often find brightening concealers to do the opposite of what they're meant to do but I love that it's a creamy formula!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love Bare Minerals make up as I've recently weened myself completely off foundation and I just use their bronzing powder and the Benefit Boiing concealer instead. I was quite intrigued to see what your thoughts on the BM concealer was as I've been looking for something which has a brightening effect for a while. The only off putting thing is the fact it's £22 however I absolutely love their other makeup so I reckon it'd be worth the money! Thanks for sharing :) x

DeleteIf this works better than the YSL touche eclat then I seriously need to give it a shot! Thanks for sharing :)

This looks good but a little too pink for my skin, I like my highlighters to be as yellow as possible!
