NARS Sheer Glow Foundation

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation: £29.50*

I've had a lot of compliments on how my skin looks and questions about the foundation I'm using at the moment, and I've been trying my best to keep it under wraps till now. NARS Sheer Glow foundation sounded right up my street but for the longest time I never got around to actually trying it. The 'sheer' description makes the product seem very expensive for that kind of finish, but it's more of a medium coverage which is definitely buildable. I find I don't need a lot of product to do my whole face, and it leaves the most lovely, dewy glow as if I'm actually drinking enough water and getting enough sleep.

I do like to use concealer for extra coverage around any problem areas (such as under my eyes, to mask the redness around my nose and so on) but that's no different from any foundation. Recommended for normal to dry skin, this formula is perfect for me and doesn't accentuate any thirsty areas. I don't think the 'glow' in the name should put anyone off though; it's very subtle and doesn't look the slightest bit greasy. Sheer Glow doesn't contain any SPF which I personally like, as you can just use SPF skincare or go without for nights out or flash photography to avoid that dreaded ghost face. It's also fragrance free thankfully, since there's nothing worse than finding a great foundation that you can't stand the smell of. Another plus for Sheer Glow is that it's non-comedogenic - which means it won't clog up your pores - hooray!

NARS Sheer Glow foundation is pretty expensive in my eyes, especially considering the fact that you need to buy a pump separately, should you want one. The pumps seem to be sold out absolutely everywhere at the moment, but to be honest they're only a few pounds and it wouldn't hurt them to just include one with the foundation as it's not cheap to begin with. Gripes aside though, this is truly a wondrous foundation and I'd totally recommend if you have skin on the drier side.

I wouldn't even think twice before repurchasing this, that's how much I love it. I guess sometimes you really do get what you pay for. Have you tried NARS Sheer Glow? What's your favourite foundation (and your skin type please!)?

For reference: the shade I have, Deauville (light with neutral undertones), is slightly too pale for me when I'm using fake tan, so I'm testing out a sample of Punjab (medium with golden, peachy undertones) at the moment! If you're not sure about shades, visit your local counter (I went to John Lewis on Oxford Street) and the MUA was extremely friendly and helpful!

    1. you should try a sample of the Nars Sheer Matte. Its like Sheer Glow but instead is aimed at more oily skin and leaves a velvety matte finish. I love it!

  5. I just bought a bottle of this a few weeks ago and I think I have FINALLY found my holy grail foundation (fingers crossed but I think we're in good shape)! I am very fair with normal/dry skin that can sometimes be sensitive, making it a little red and Mont Blanc is the PERFECT shade for my skin. My skin looks glowy and dewy without ever looking greasy or slick and I don't think I look "too" made up with this but it offers great coverage. I don't currently use a powder to set it but with a primer it lasts me all day and I only need to maybe do a little touch up before going out for the evening. I cannot praise this foundation enough, I'm glad you're enjoying too! xx

  26. I love Sheer Glow! I will admit the price is certainly a put-off but the results are fantastic. I previously always chose high coverage foundations but I love the fact that this is so buildable for the desired look.
My tips for students is to wait for ASOS to do another 25% discount and order it from there. . . saves so many pennies!

  29. This looks so good but I'm always cautious of foundations that have "glow" etc in them because I have terribly oily skin. My favourite foundation of all time is definitely No 7 Stay Matte, I'll never look back :)

  33. The finish on this looks flawless and its really light looking also i.e a true natural colour which I like in products especially foundations so I am considering buying this myself but maybe one more suited for oily skin complexion :) x

  34. I'm using a tester at the moment and I have the shade Deauville too, and I think I'll need a different shade for summer too, but the colour match is perfect right now, it really evens out my skin tone beautifully and has the most naturally healthy finish without being too glowy. I love the texture, and for such a lightweight feeling foundation is is well pigmented :)

  35. Oh and I forgot to say - you're right! The MUA's are amazing, the guy I saw in Selfridges took one look at my face and handed me Deauville...I was a little sceptical that he could tell my tone/colour match so quickly but he was spot on! Genius.

  38. doesn't look dewy but it's hard to capture that in a photo sometimes, I agree it's a bit to light for your skintone, but great product review.

  40. I'm having trouble finding a good foundation right now.. my skin used to be dry and I used the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation, but my skin has changed to combination and I'm finding it hard to find one that isn't matte and isn't dewy; do you know any good in-between foundations?

  41. This looks gorgeous on you! It's such a shame you have to buy the pump seperately, I'm sure most people prefer a pump so they should definitely include one on the orginal. I'd love to try this foundation but don't think glowing would go too well with my oily skin type :(

My current foundation is MAC's Studio Fix fluid, it has medium to full coverage and is really good for normal skin types c:
