Barry M Lychee Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint

Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail Paint in Lychee: £3.99

There's been a lot of buzz around the somewhat new Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine nail polish range and, naturally, curiosity got the better of me and last week I left Boots with a marginally lighter purse. As I have a pretty extensive polish collection already I settled for two bottles of the stuff, one shade being Lychee. The range boasts an array of bright, fruity colours which potentially renders this the blandest of the bunch but I think this has all the makings of a winner for me!

Barry M's Lychee is a pale beige-nude that I don't think pulls too yellow nor too pink- just a great-middle ground which I'm convinced all skin tones could rock. The consistency is quite thick and creamy, which along with the small-ish brush makes application a bit tricky in the sense that you feel you may pull the polish if you paint too haphazardly- maybe not one for those looking for a fuss-free, quick mani. Then again, once you've applied two coats (all that is needed for complete opacity) you are left with a gorgeously glossy finish, just as promised on the bottle. No need for a top coat with this bad boy.

Not going to comment on wear time as I don't wear nail polishes for very long and - as I always say - I think it depends on nail care from person to person. One thing I will say though is I've not stopped peering at my nails since adorning them in this, which must be a good sign! Boots currently have a promotion on where you can buy 2 bottles of Barry M nail polish and save £1 so I'm tempted to go back for a couple more.. any recommendations? What do you think of this shade?

  23. I've got some from this range in Pomegranate and Dragon Fruit and love them. The finish is lovely, even though the wear isn't as great as Models Own but I only apply glitter nail polishes on top, no top coat so that could be why x
