River Island SS14 Press Day
So a couple of weeks ago I took a peak at next season's offerings from River Island. There was a whole lot of pastel and white which is to be expected with any SS drop, but what made it more interesting was the vast array of fabrics and textures on offer. Plenty of embroidery, tapestry and laser-cut detail as well as a sea of fabrics to keep everything fresh and new. My favourite pieces would have to be the dreamy white appliqué two piece consisting of a jacket-top hybrid and midi skirt, the blue and yellow tapestry coat, the fluffy mint bag (something I never though I'd say..) and the ballet inspired dress with scalloped layered bust. The accessories for the most part aren't to my exact tastes (although I'm sure plenty of people are still well and truly on the jelly shoe and chunky platform wagon) but I do love a good pair of bamboo style earrings, of which were aplenty. The chunky pastel beanies were screaming my name too, and I can't wait to look like a tiny baby peahead when I get my hands on one! My favourite part of the preview though? The on-site illustrator (Miss Magpie Fashion Spy) and the beach scene made of shortbread & cake pops! It's a beautiful thing when food meets fashion..
